On November 18, 2019, India officially informed the world organization for animal health (OIE) of three recent outbreaks of bovine nodular dermatosis in the country. In order to protect the safety of animal husbandry and prevent the introduction of epidemic situation, according to the Customs Law of the people’s Republic of China, the law of the people’s Republic of China on the entry and exit animal and plant quarantine and other relevant laws and regulations, it is hereby announced as follows:
- It is prohibited to import cattle and related products directly or indirectly from India (from unprocessed cattle or products that are processed but may spread the disease).
- It is prohibited to send or carry cattle and related products from India. Once found, they shall be returned or destroyed.
- If any cattle and related products from India are found on the inbound ships, aircraft, road vehicles, railway trains and other means of transport, they shall be sealed up. During their stay or operation in China, they shall not be unsealed for use without the permission of the customs. The wastes and swill shall be treated innocuously under the supervision of the customs and shall not be discarded without authorization.
- The cattle and their related products illegally imported from India intercepted by the border guard and other departments shall be destroyed under the supervision of the customs.
- Any violation of the above provisions shall be handled by the customs in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Customs Law of the people’s Republic of China, the law of the people’s Republic of China on the entry and exit animal and plant quarantine and its implementing regulations.
