On 25 December, COSCO SHIPPING South China held the “Embrace CHANCAY (PECHY ) and Share the Future, COSCO SHIPPING South America West Third Line (WSA3) First Voyage South China and CHANCAY (PECHY )Promotion Conference” in Shenzhen. This is a major measure taken by COSCO SHIPPING to accurately meet the market needs of all parties and provide efficient, professional and considerate services for global goods to and from Peru after the opening of the terminal. The reporter learned from the meeting that COSCO Shipping Container Lines in South China will open direct shipping routes to Shenzhen and other South China regions in January 2025.

As the new flagship project of the “Belt and Road” initiative in South America, COSCO SHIPPING has made full use of the unique geographical location and deep-water port advantages of CHANCAY (PECHY ) Port, aiming to shorten the transportation time and improve the efficiency of cargo turnover, and comprehensively optimised the high-quality route of COSCO SHIPPING South America West Line 3 (WSA3). Following the opening of direct flights to Shanghai on 25 November, COSCO SHIPPING will launch a direct service to CHANCAY (PECHY ) Port in South China in January 2025.

The new route departs from South China, covering the destination port of Mexico, Peru’s Chancay Port, Chile and other important countries in West South America, with a total of 11 ships in operation, adding 600 to 800 TEU (TEU) capacity to the South China market every week. The opening of this new route marks the reshaping of the logistics corridor from South China to Peru, providing a more convenient and efficient export option for enterprises in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

As the first port of the route, the cargo of the Greater Bay Area can quickly arrive at the port of Chancay in Peru from South China, greatly improving logistics efficiency. In addition, the port is also equipped with a self-operated smart terminal, with 150 trailers that can radiate the whole territory of Peru, coupled with the third-generation IOT technology to support the whole process of container cold chain transportation visibility, injecting new vitality into the export of goods from South China to Latin America.
